ThermomixI’ve been checking out these babies for years – Thermomixes have been held in high regard amongst the healthy people of this world as the ‘ultimate gadget’ for a number of years now, but the price had always held me back. Now I say ‘checking out’, but really this means listening to the achievements this gadget can accomplish, as I’d never actually seen one in action before. I’d been told that it could replace every other kitchen appliance, cut, blend, chop, process and cook. I’d also been told that it cooked meals such as curry’s starting from scratch and using natural ingredients in a short amount of time.

Now, I’ve always been a ‘foodie’ that loves every kitchen gadget, and always ‘has to have’ the latest thing that everyone’s talking about, but I had steered away from attending any demos as I still couldn’t justify the price as I knew that I’d be tempted. No let’s be honest, MORE than tempted!

A friend had bought one fairly recently, and everyone seemed to be raving about the Thermomix, so I started to feel that perhaps I could justify the extravagance when my son was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. And a couple of weeks later, my food processor blew up (sparks and everything!) so I took this to be a final sign – I was ready to plunge in and hang the expense!

My selected Demonstrator laughed, because I was the only person she knew who had purchased one before seeing in action. But within 24 hours of my Thermomix being delivered, I was well and truly hooked.

What this machine can do is truly amazing – I’ve only had for a month or so but already we make our own butter, tomato sauce, peanut butter, pesto, sorbet and ice-cream from scratch. We’ve also made butter chicken, mashed potato (the best ever, I promise!), bread, pasta, soup, muesli bars, stock concentrate, polenta, beetroot salad, lasagne, tagines, smoothies etc etc.

There wouldn’t be a day that goes by without us now using and I can’t imagine life without it. It really does do everything and has to be seen to be believed, but the big thing for me is the time it saves and also the fact that menu items can be made from scratch using fresh, healthy and pure products.

We have never been the healthiest family on the planet, but we have been following a sugar-free and almost Paleo style diet for a few months, and I just don’t think this would be possible for my family without my new ‘best friend’ – the Thermomix.

If you are serious about getting ‘back to basics’, using fresh and natural produce and ingredients but are time-poor, as most of us are these days, it’s definitely worth checking out. The Thermomix will make your life so much easier, improve the taste and texture of your meals and also enable you to ditch the processed, packaged ‘rubbish’ we usually eat to save ourselves time and effort.

Give it a whirl and let me know what you think!!

* I am not a Thermomix demonstrator or being paid commission – this is purely my opinion, NOT a sales pitch. But I do have a great Demonstrator to recommend if you are keen to find out more and live in the Brisbane/Sunshine Coast area *
