Delightful Darwin

It’s been almost twenty years since I last visited Darwin so it was exciting to be given the chance to run a conference event there recently. To return back to the Northern Territory was something I was really looking forward to, as I knew there would have been a lot of change since I last there. To say that it had changed was a huge understatement. Darwin has undergone a complete transformation in recent years, and whereas I’ve often thought of it primarily as a gateway to Kakadu, Litchfield National Park and Katherine, Darwin is now undoubtedly an amazing destination [...]

Spicers Hidden Vale – Great for a Perfect Get Away!

A couple of weeks ago, we set off for a long weekend at Spicers Hidden Vale, located at Grandchester in the Lockyer Valley, which is approximately an hour’s drive from Brisbane. We needed a break and wanted a quiet couple of days of rest, relaxation, nature and fine food, and this promised to be the perfect solution, as indeed it was. Spicers Hidden Vale is an Australian true country experience and really is a traditional, old style homestead that is beautifully renovated but takes you immediately back in time as you drive through the entrance. The homestead and its colonial [...]

Kingly Kona

Over the years, I’ve been fortunate to visit Honolulu a number of times; with my family, to run conference events (great place for a conference!) and travelling on travel agent ‘famil’ programs. So when my boys voted for a Hawaii break again this year, I thought it was high time that we added on another island to visit as part of the trip so that we could experience more of what this amazing State of America has to offer. Always passionate about experiencing and seeing new cultural activities or things to visit, we added on a three day trip to [...]

Jetset to Japan!

I’ve been selling travel for 25 years – yes, a very long time! – and I’ve been lucky to travel to so many destinations, but I am yet to get to Japan. It’s not that I haven’t wanted to, because I would love to go if the opportunity should arise, which it hasn’t as yet but I know that it will. I’ve sent lots of people to Japan, and for a myriad of reasons, and EVERYONE (and I do mean everyone) absolutely loves their trip to this amazing country and often become repeat travellers heading back year after year. Whether [...]

Yeomanly York

Not sure if ‘yeomanly’ is a great word to use, but consistency is a key point of marketing.... and you try and think of another word to describe York that begins with a ‘y’! Now I’ve got that out of the way, as many of you know, I was born and raised in the UK and even though I have lived in Australia since I was sixteen years old, I do visit on a fairly regular basis and when I get the chance, I always head for York. York is, without doubt, one of my favourite cities in the UK [...]

Glitzy Gold Coast

Australia’s Gold Coast is one of the nation’s best known and most loved holiday destinations – sun, sea, surf and sand is only the beginning as to why everyone loves this magical part of south east Queensland. We are fortunate to only live a couple of hours drive away so frequent often for a variety of reasons, and it’s always a great place to visit for a weekend or a full-blown holiday. Kids of all ages love the Gold Coast. Trendy Surfers Paradise with its bustling mall, stunning beach, shops, cafes and restaurants is always a drawcard and there are [...]

Marvellous Melbourne

Melbourne is always a great place to visit, there’s lots to see and do in this vibrant and buzzing city and it’s all there to be enjoyed! It's a cultural, fashion, arts, sport and sightseeing delight, it's hard to know where to begin. Take a Yarra River cruise, enjoy the Crown Casino complex and Southbank area, and visit Federation Square, Harbour Town Docklands and the renowned Queen Victoria Market. Take a stroll through the Royal Botanical Gardens or Fitzroy Gardens where you can also visit Captain Cook’s cottage. There’s the Melbourne Aquarium and Melbourne Zoo if you love animals, the [...]

Quintessential Qualia (Hamilton Island, The Whitsundays)

As we drove through the tall, wooden gates set in stone walls, into Qualia Resort on Hamilton Island, I immediately knew that we were in for an amazing few days. Nestled at one end of Hamilton Island, in the heart of Australia’s Whitsunday Islands, Qualia has been a place that I have been determined to stay at since it opened, around ten years ago. Qualia is one of those ‘bucket list’ destinations. Luxury at its best, set in a tropical paradise with a huge number of activities on offer, a spa that is out of this world and accommodation that [...]

Dazzling Dublin

It was so exciting to drive into Dublin, a city I’ve heard so much about and where anyone that has visited enjoys and loves. To me, it promised to be the Irish equivalent of New Orleans in the USA, and it certainly did not disappoint. It even had its own dedicated pub/bar ‘party’ area of Temple Bar, similar to the New Orleans’ renowned French Quarter area (although definitely a little more ‘British’). And we wanted to make sure we stayed in the thick of things so the Temple Bar Hotel was our hotel of choice. From the moment we stepped [...]
