Cheers to 20 Years!

Today marks a MAJOR milestone for Spectacular Events & Spectacular World Travel... today we celebrate our 20th birthday! Woo hoo!!!   In 1998, I held the piece of paper in my hand that was my company certificate... I was aged 25 years old, ready to take on the world and initially we started out with me contracting to two or three companies to run their conference events.   In less than two years, I had a travel centre in North Sydney which ran side by side to the conference work I was doing and following the birth of my first [...]

45 Things I’ve Learnt at the Age of 45!

Today I turn 45, which has had me reflecting on where I currently am, where I’m heading and what I’ve learned over my years on the planet. What would I do differently? Am I on the right track? What’s important to me? And so on.... and as I’m one that reflects on paper, I thought I’d share with you 45 lessons or pieces of advice I’ve learnt by the age of 45! 1) Always take action. I love to dream, I love to set goals but if I don’t ‘take action’ they will not come to fruition 2) Travelling is [...]

Congratulations Class of 2017!

Today my son will walk out of his school gates for the very last time. It’s exciting and sad all at the same time, and no doubt it will be an emotional day, filled with tears of sadness and tears of joy (the tissues are packed!). He’s been at the same school for all of his school life – fourteen years in total – so the way forward is more daunting possibly than for some as they move into a whole new world. It’s a world filled with opportunity, choices, freedom, options and new relationships, jobs or study to navigate. [...]

Goal Power

Last week, I realised and achieved a seventeen year old goal. I know the goal has always been there, but I guess I didn’t really think about for how long until two of my friends brought this to my attention over the past few days, when they commented ‘you’ve always wanted one of those’ and ‘you wanted one of those when your son was in Pre-School’. My son is now in Grade 12, so yes, the seeds were set for this goal a very long time ago. And perhaps this is why it has made the journey and the accomplishment [...]

Life Balance – Possible or Impossible?

Over the weekend, I posted a picture of all the books I’m currently reading, and I know I’ve mentioned before how important books are in my world. I’m a firm believer in that we should never stop learning and books open us to a wealth of information, knowledge and advice, not mentioning the benefits of taking time out to relax, enjoy and immerse ourselves in a good read. What I want to talk about in this blog (and the next blog) is the impact two of these books have had on my life, and the significance they have made on [...]

Take Time to Relax

I’m writing this blog whilst lying on a king size day-bed on the deck of our Windward Pavilion at Qualia on Hamilton Island, so thought I should focus on an appropriate topic that fits the situation. Now I’ve got you drooling, the reason I mentioned is that I’m here to relax, chill out and do nothing for a few days, before jumping head first into a two to three month crazy schedule. A couple of months ago, I could see that I was heading for a crazy few months, and being the person that I am was feeling excited, motivated [...]

Find YOUR Passion

Last night, I went to bed excited, happy, raring to go and feeling ecstatic about the previous few days and what lies ahead. Not the best state to go to bed in from a sleep perspective, but I felt content and satisfied so surprisingly drifted off to sleep very quickly. This morning, I leapt out of bed at 6.30am ready to go again – excited, focused and ready for action. As I prepared for the day, I was smiling and chirpy, chatty to the family and itching to start my day. So why so much excitement? And why so much [...]

The Importance of Self Development

As some of you will have seen from my recent social media posts, I have just returned from three days of intense training and have returned filled with enthusiasm, renewed passion and vigour, and hopefully lots of new skills. It made me start to think about the importance of self-development as even though most of us are time-poor, we really cannot afford to keep under-taking self-development opportunities; not if we want to continue to better ourselves and progress forward on our life journey. Training, self-development courses, conferences, expos, networking functions and workshops give us ample opportunities to further our self-development, [...]

Read Your Way to Success

One of my New Year Resolutions, that I set year in and year out, has always been to read 10 x non-fiction and 10 x fiction books each year. And it’s one resolution that I find it easy to keep and always embrace, no matter how busy life gets. I remember reading a comment a few years ago that went along the lines of ‘The difference between successful people and not so successful people is reading’ and where this may or may not be a proven fact, one thing that I know for sure is that most entrepreneurial people tend [...]

Hello 2016! – Time to Plan

As we near the end of 2015, and get ready to welcome 2016, it’s a good time to start reflecting on your achievements of the past year, so that you can plan and list what you wish to achieve in the forthcoming year. It’s so important to look back and pat yourself on the back for the great things your business has accomplished, not enough people do this in my opinion. If you can look back and reflect on what you have achieved, this will motivate you to look ahead at ‘What’s Next’! So where do you start? It’s time to dig [...]
